Way back when, we had a lightbulb moment (solar-powered, of course). We realized we needed a “middle-management” volunteer contingent to get the job done, which means we needed extra hands in the right places to make the magic happen in the field (read: we couldn’t do it alone). Since then, we’ve had an amazing run of great “Packies” that really give it their all. Some have no prior glading experience - some don’t even ski! That’s a testament to the power of being involved in something that’s fun. And what’s better than being in the woods all day, giving some pointers to the uninitiated, and then drinking beers and crushing burgers afterward? We thought you’d understand.

We’re now recruiting for Pack Leaders for our upcoming 2024 season. It could be you!

WHY: Pack Leaders are critical to the glade day operation! Without you, our Glades wouldn’t exist. Pack Leaders are stewards of Graniteland and represent GBA to the public. It’s an important role!

WHAT: Each Packie gains a sense of pride and responsibility for the land by volunteering, which leads to greater appreciation of these areas when the snow flies and you’re cruising through the glade as the best version of yourself (yodeling, of course). Looking to find some new ski partners? This is where you go. Packies are a community, a common-bond, a chance to make things happen! Join us!

COMMITMENT: By signing up as a Pack Leader, you are committing to volunteer a minimum of two glade days (although three is preferred!).

HOW: Pack Leaders are trained and trusted managers of the glade during Glade Days. Each Packie is trained on the rules of the glade and leads groups of 6-8 Quarry Dogs to a predetermined section of the glade to ensure that section embodies the spirit of Graniteland.
