BURNT MEADOW GLADE

Brownfield, ME

Just over an hour from Portland, you’ll find GBA’s freshest cut at Burnt Meadow Mountain in Brownfield, ME! This former lift-serviced ski area now has a primo skin track that leads you to five lines, 700’ vertical drop, and back to a warming hut for any snacks and aprés you brought along right on site. Burnt Meadow is the not-so-secret backcountry stash we’ve all been waiting for. Before you get to Burnt Meadow, hit up Dillon’s for grab-and-go breakfast sandos and GORP for the skin track. And you gotta stop in to The Back Burner after for hot grub and cold brews after those hot laps.

Some Cool History: Burnt Meadow Ski Area operated from 1971 to 1982, an effort by the town of Brownfield to overcome an economic depression that had been reeling since a devastating fire in 1947. The private property is now managed by the Burnt Meadow Snow Club, which is partnering with GBA to coexist with a shared human-powered and motorized trail & glade oasis to spur economic development during the wintertime months.
